In the name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful. Say: “I seek refuge with (Allâh) the Lord of the daybreak, (1) “From the evil of what He has created; (2) “And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness; (or the moon as it sets or goes away) (3) “And from the evil of those who practise witchcrafts when they blow in the knots, (4) “And from the evil of the envier when he envies.” (5)
In the name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful.
Say: “I seek refuge with (Allâh) the Lord of mankind, (1) “The King of mankind — [] (2) “The Ilâh (God) of mankind, (3) “From the evil of the whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in one’s heart after one remembers Allâh)[] , (4) “Who whispers in the breasts of mankind, (5) “Of jinn and men.” (6).
Reward & Purpose : On the authority of Uqbah bin Amer Al-Juhani, he said: The Messenger of God (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam), said to me: ‘Say: He is Allah (the) One [i.e Surah Ikhlas],’ ‘Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak [i.e Surah Falaq],’ ‘Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of mankind [i.e Surah Naas].’ The Messenger of Allah (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) recited them, then he (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) said: ‘The people have never recited anything like them, or the people have never sought refuge (with Allah) by means of anything like them.” [ Sunan an-Nasa’i 5431]
We went out on a rainy and extremely dark night, looking for the Messenger of Allah (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam), so that he could lead us in Salat.” He said: “So I met him and he (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) said: ‘Speak’ but I did not say anything. Then he (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) said: ‘Speak.’ But I did not say anything. He (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) said: ‘Speak.’ So I said: ‘What should I say?’ He (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) said: ‘Say: “Say: He is Allah, the One [i.e Surah Ikhlas],” and Al-Mu`awwidhatain [i.e Surah Falaq and Surah Naas],, when you reach evening, and when you reach morning, three times, they will suffice you against everything. He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter . And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursî[] extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
Reward & Purpose : Reading once morning and evening is for protection from Jinn (both Jinn and Satan) [Mjamah Zwaid , Saheeh Bokhari] . Ayatul Kursi should be read after every obligatory Salah as this act will become the reason for us to go to paradise straight away after death.
I had been placed in charge of the zakāt of Ramadān by Allah (SWT)s dearest Prophet Muhammad (صلي الله عليه وآله وبارك وسلم), and when someone came to me and began to take up handfuls of the food, I seized him and told him I was certainly going to take him before Allah’s messenger (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam). But when he said, “I am needy, have children dependent on me, and my need is great,” I let him go. In the morning dearest Allah’s Prophet (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) asked, “What happened to your prisoner last night, Abū Huraira?” and I replied, “Ya Rasul Allah (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam), he complained of great need and of having children dependent on him, so I had pity on him and let him go.” He (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) said, “He lied to you, and he will come back.” I realised that he would return because God’s messenger had told me so, and therefore I lay in wait for him. When he came and began to take up handfuls of the food, I seized him and told him I was certainly going to take him before Allah’s messenger (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam); but when he said, “Let me go, for I am needy with children dependent on me, and I shall not return” I had pity on him and let him go. In the morning Allah’s messenger(Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) asked me, “What has happened to your prisoner, Abū Huraira?” and I replied, “Ya Rasul-Allah, he complained of great need and of having children dependent on him, so I had pity on him and let him go.” He (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) said, “He has certainly lied to you, and he will come back,” so I lay in wait for him, and when he came and took up handfuls of food I seized him and said, “I am certainly going to take you before Allah’s messenger, for this is the third time you assert you will not return, and then you do.” He said, “If you let me go I will teach you some words by which God will benefit you. When you go to your bed recite the Throne Verse (Qur’ān 2:255), ‘God, there is no god but He, the Living, the Eternal’ to the end of the verse, for a guardian from God will then remain over you and no devil will come near you till the morning.” I therefore let him go, and in the morning Allah’s messenger (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) asked me, “What has happened to your prisoner?” I replied, “He asserted that he would teach me some words by which Allah would benefit me.” He (Salallaho alayhay wa alehe wabarik wa sallam) said, “He has certainly told you the truth though he is a great liar. Do you know to whom you have been talking for, three nights?” When I replied that I did not, he said, “That was a devil.” [Saheeh Bokhari].” [Saheeh Bokhari]
